Insurance:

Types of Insurance coverage you should have for your car: When purchasing automobile insurance, it is extremely important that you know what you are purchasing as well as making sure that you have sufficient amounts of coverage. There are several different types of coverage that we recommend every driver have.

Liability: Obviously liability insurance is important. This coverage protects you if someone makes a claim against you for personal injuries or property damage. Liability coverage is required by Washington law. The amount of coverage that you have should be determined by how much property or salaries you need to protect. We recommend that every one have a minimum of $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident. While this is above the legal amount that you are required to have, it will most likely protect you from having to pay any amounts out of your own pocket. Liability insurance also will pay for your insurance company to investigate any claim against you as well as provide an attorney to defend you if you are sued.

Personal Injury Protection: Personal Injury Protection or PIP takes care of all medical bills that you or any one in your car incurs if injured. PIP is no fault insurance, so it does not matter who is at fault. It will also pay a small amount for wage loss if you are off of work due to injuries from an auto accident. The minimum coverage is for $10,000 and PIP will cover for year. We recommend $35,000 coverage for three years.

Underinsured Motorists: Underinsured Motorist - Personal Injury or UIM protects you from drivers who do not have sufficient coverage to pay for your injuries or who drive without any liability insurance at all. Unfortunately, a lot of drivers in Washington do not have insurance. We represent a lot of injured persons who have to make a claim against their UIM coverage. It does not cost very much to have and if you make a claim against UIM, it will not affect your insurance policy or its cost. We strongly recommend at least $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident. There is also underinsured motorist-property damage. If the other driver is not insured, this coverage will pay to repair or replace your vehicle without having to pay a deductible. It is not very expensive and probably a good idea to purchase.

Collision: Collision coverage will pay to repair your vehicle. We suggest it unless your car is older, not in good shape and you have another vehicle to drive, if it is damaged. The cost of collision coverage depends how much your vehicle is worth and how much it costs to repair it.

Other insurance coverage: There are several other types of insurance coverage, including comprehensive and rental vehicle. We suggest you speak with your insurance agent or broker to discuss what type of coverages that you need.
